The world is full of distractions. There is always more to do than anyone can get done. The enemies of God would consume with busyness to keep us from a relationship with Jesus Christ. It takes two parties to have a relationship. Jesus has already made all the necessary overtures to initiate a relationship with us: He has given us a conscience to convict us of our need for Him (Romans 2:14-15), He made it possible for our sins to be forgiven (Romans 5:8), He has given us the Bible to authenticate the truth (John 17:17), and He has given believers the Holy Spirit so that we may commune with Him (1 John 4:14). It is up to us to make the relationship work. For a relationship to happen, there must be communication. We speak to Him in prayer and He speaks to us by His Word. Unless we take the time to be still to listen for the prompting of the Holy Spirit and meditate on God's Word, we can not know Him. If you are not saved, today is the day you should listen to that "still small voice" (1 Kings 19:12) and let Jesus into your life (2 Corinthians 6:2, Hebrews 4:7).
