To the world, the dove symbolizes the absence of hostilities between nations. Mankind keeps trying to bring peace to the planet but this will not be realized until the Prince of Peace comes (Isaiah 9:6). To the Christian, the dove symbolizes the presence of the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit appeared like a dove ascending on Jesus to John the Baptist (Matthew 3:16). True peace is an inner calm that only comes with knowing Jesus Christ as your Savior. God blesses those who have a relationship with Him and are acting in His will with peace as one of the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Christians can have peace despite their circumstances because they know that "all things work together for good to those who love God" (Romans 8:28). The peace of God is a powerful witness because it defies explanation by the world.
