Unsealing the Bible

by Scott Huckaby

The Bible speaks of fantastic things like resurrection and dramatic changes in the world as we know it. The average person doesn't believe these things or only believes the portions they want to believe. The notion that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God is beyond most people's comprehension because they don't know Him. If they did, they'd realize that God is Almighty enough to accurately present and preserve His Word even using His imperfect creation.

Yet God continues to reach out to us with even more proof of His authorship. An incredible book has recently been published, "The Bible Code" by Michael Droshin, a secular newspaper reporter. The book describes how computers may be used to search for Hebrew words or names encoded in the Torah. The Torah is the first five books of the Bible, Genesis through Deuteronomy, attributed to Moses as author. The computer search techniques described in "The Bible Code" are revealing amazing details about events in our time.

"The Bible Code"

The way the code works is that the original Hebrew text of the Torah is made onto one continuous string of characters without spaces. Specific words are searched for by skipping one Hebrew character, then two, then three, ...4000, etc... When a match is found, the text is rearranged into a matrix with a width equal to the number of skipped characters so that the search word can be seen like a vertical word in the middle of a cross- word puzzle. Other Hebrew words are looked for near the search word like a "Word Sleuth" puzzle in the paper.

A group of Hebrew scholars first discovered that these Bible code techniques can reveal extraordinary details about recent history. They searched for the names of 32 sages (rabbis) who lived between the 9th and 18th centuries. All were found encoded within the Torah along with their places and dates of birth. They also searched other texts such as a Hebrew translation of "War and Peace" and a scrambled version of Genesis to see if the results could be duplicated, they were not. They published a paper about this in the scholarly journal "Statistical Science" which was subject to an intense amount of academic scrutiny. No one could dispute their science and indeed their results were duplicated by skeptics.

Droshin applied these computer-aided search techniques to more contemporary topics and found words like "economic collapse" with "1929", "Hitler, Nazi, enemy, & slaughter" together, "Wright brothers & airplane", "Edison, electricity, light bulb", Shoemaker-Levy, will pound Jupiter, 1994" all found together. He also found "Yitzhak Rabin" with "assassin will assassinate", the year 1995 and even the killer's name, "Amir".

The Future Revealed

So what did Droshin find about the future? "Atomic war" and "nuclear holocaust" were associated with Israel for the years 2000 and 2006. He also found this for 1996 but the word "delayed" was encoded with this date. What is amazing is that Droshin remained agnostic throughout his discoveries. He had to acknowledge that man could not be the source of the Bible but suggests that it might be an "alien artifact". Come-on, why can't he admit the obvious?!!!

Droshin asserts that the Bible code appears to be a warning for mankind to prevent the destruction of the world. This poor lost man is missing the point! The Bible code authenticates the true author of the Bible: God Himself! Why didn't Droshin search for Jesus, or Messiah, or the Resurrection, or the Second Coming? I'll tell you why, he's afraid he will stumble upon the truth and have to yield himself to Jesus as Lord.

Prophetic Implications

The fact that this Bible code is now being revealed to mankind is in itself prophetic. Daniel 12:4 says, "But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase." This passage indicates that only in the end-times will certain secrets of Scripture be revealed to mankind.

Jesus also spoke of the prophetic inerrancy of Scripture in Matthew 5:18, "For assuredly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled." A "jot" is the smallest letter in Hebrew and a "tittle" is the smallest stroke in a Hebrew character. The "law" is a reference to the Torah which was delivered to Moses by God. This passage certainly seems to indicate that there is a level of prophetic detail that goes beyond the clear text.

The spiritual battle for individual souls is coming to a climax. In these last days, Satan has perpetrated the lie of evolution which sheds doubt about the Almighty nature of God. God has revealed the Bible code to mankind to reinforce His authorship and Satan raised up Droshin to explain it away as warning from a benevolent alien intelligence.

Many have rationalized that God used evolution as the mechanism of creation. But do you really know God if you put such limitations on Him? Jesus addressed this in Luke 16:31 when He spoke of Moses who brought us the creation account, "If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead." Where do you draw the line of interpretation? If you start reading human explanation into the creation account, where does this stop?

Are you a last day's scoffer?

The Apostle Peter spoke of the last days when people would scoff at the Lord's return and willfully forget that God dramatically changed the earth as we know it in "Noah's flood" (2 Peter 3:1-9).

We don't need the Bible code to know that Jesus is coming soon. This time He is not coming as Savior but as Judge. Time is running out to make that eternal decision to be with Christ and escape His wrath. This decision shouldn't be put off, Scripture is clear that end-time events will overtake the world like a flood, there will come a time when a decision for Christ will be too late. "The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy." BUT "He will not always strive with us," (Psalm 103:8-9).
